Beth Filar Williams is the Associate Professor and User Experience Research Librarian at the Oregon State University Libraries. She has worked in almost every library type, in various geographic locations, and always as a consistent sustainability advocate and educator. After green library blogging for over a decade, she has continued presenting at and hosting webinars, presenting at a variety of conferences, most recently at the IFLA Congress (on IDGs), along with coordinating the satellite meeting, serving on local to international committees (currently as a member of ALA’s International Relations Committee (IRC) UN SDGs Subcommittee and an elected member of ENSULIB of IFLA), and publishing (see CV). Beth is also a co-founder of ALA’s Sustainability RoundTable and a tenured User Experience Research librarian at Oregon State University Libraries and Press, where she was recently the Co-chair of the Faculty Senate Carbon Commitment Committee and co-wrote a grant to get solar on the library roof. She offers a deep curiosity for assessing community needs, connecting people, and empowering libraries as societal strongholds. Her interests include edible gardening, hiking, and anything outdoors!
